FLIC IS A WIRELESS SMART BUTTON

The Flic is a "hot button" that can perform all manner of tasks, limited only by the user's imagination. The company's rather entertaining Indiegogo video provides many examples of how the hot button could be used. The Scandinavians are well known for taking a no-frills, no-nonsense approach to product design. Perhaps this is why the Flic is so elegant and simple to use - the team are from Sweden (another example of a wonderfully elegant connected device, in this case from Finland, is Thingsee by Haltian).
One obvious segment is people who are technically illiterate or suffer from dementia. I can imagine a scenario where a son, daughter or carer use the Flic app to program buttons that operate connected devices around the home with a single click. In addition, Flic could be used as a panic button in the event of a mishap or medical emergency.

The little devices use Bluetooth, so the batteries last several years (replacement is easy as they use standard batteries), have a 50m range, are diminutive in stature (Height: 8,25 mm / Diameter: 28 mm) and will cost around $35.00 (£22.00). Go to Indiegogo to pre-order yours now, available March 2015.
