A startup, based in Indianapolis, has a stylish solution called the HidrateMe bottle, that uses a sensor to track how much fluid has been consumed. When hydration targets have not been met, the app sends a reminder to the user's smartphone.
In addition to smartphone notifications, the users is also reminded to drink whenever the bottle begins to glow. The device can be safely placed inside a dishwater, and the product's non-rechargeable battery will last a year.
The HidrateMe smart water bottle can be pre-ordered on Kickstarter from $39, and the estimated shipping date is December 2015. It should be noted that the Hidrate is not the only smart water bottle available. The Trago is very similar and can also be pre-ordered via Kickstarter. I would say the primary difference between the two is that HidrateMe has been designed with females in mind, whereas Trago's more utilitarian appearance will tend to appeal more to male customers.
