In addition to the Apple Watch, BMW has also developed an app that runs on the Samsung Gear smartwatch. The app is called "i Remote", and it won first place at CES in the "Software and Mobile Apps" category this year.
According to TechDrive the i Remote watch app will not only give an insight into the car’s charging status, but will also monitor the battery's condition, and lifespan. It can also be used to adjust the cabin temperature before the vehicle is entered, and enable the driver to remotely lock the doors. It can also flash the headlights, honk the horn, and find the nearest charging station.
Other vehicle OEMs that jumped on the smartwatch bandwagon at CES included Audi. The company developed an app that can run on an LG smartwatch, however the app turned out to be nothing more than a concept.
