This pimped up ride, not only drives itself unassisted, but it also has received a major overhaul under the chassis as well as under the hood. This thing, therefore, really flies, and packs a serious punch. The classic brushed stainless steel beast was christened "MARTY" by the team, which stands for "Multiple Actuator Research Test bed for Yaw control", as an homage to Marty McFly.
Although the DeLorean factory shut down in 1983, British entrepreneur Stephen Wynne, based in Texas, started a separate company in 1995 using the "DeLorean Motor Company" name and shortly thereafter acquired the "DMC" logo and trademark, as well as the all remaining inventory. His company, located in Texas, builds newly assembled cars from refurbished original and reproduction parts, and each car is custom made. Each car does however carry the chassis's original vehicle identification number (VIN) plates.
