Posted By Simon Montford on Feb 10, 2015 The Displio is a diminutive e-ink gadget which can be programmed to display all kinds of information. It comes with an API as well as a growing number of widgets that are being developed by Draugiem Group, a Latvian IT company that is the brainchild of the Displio. The device comes in white, black, red, blue, green, yellow, and grey $99 (£65). A special edition wood version is also available for $119 (£78). As well as looking good, the Displio does serve a purpose. It can display important information and notifications that can easily be viewed at a glance, eliminating the need to constantly check your smartphone, smartwatch or computer. The great thing about e-ink is that it not only provides a really sharp, easily readable display but it lasts far longer than OLED. Information that can be displayed include news, tweets, weather, stock prices, leader boards etc. Widgets can be switched by simply rotating the gadget and placing it down on a different edge. The display will automatically re-orientate itself, which is a nice touch. With 15 days remaining, the campaign has exceeded it's $65,000 target, which means the little Displio is destined for big things. Early bird discounts are still available, so if you want to grab one at the discounted price we suggest you pre-order yours today for $79 (£52). International shipping will be available, and delivery is expected to be around June 2015.
