Posted By Simon Montford on Sept 19, 2014 We love this project! As an avid runner for most of my adult life, I have been recently plagued by a condition called Plantar Fasciitis aka 'Runners Heel'. By attaching runScribe to different pairs of running shoes it is possible to understand how the mechanics of each pair varies. I was a big fan of minimal running and regularly used the balls of my feet to avoid heel strikes so was surprised when I developed the condition that affects only the heel of the foot and inflicts pain on thousands of runners each year. I completed a half-marathon in a pair of Vibram Fivefingers last year and did not experience any ill affects for months afterwards. Why I suddenly developed Plantar Fasciitis is a mystery. Was minimal running to blame? I guess I will never know for sure. Other possible causes could have been olympic lifting, box jumping or just wear and tear! I assume runScribe could have provided me with some answers had I been able to use their cool little gadget. You can check runScribe out on Kickstarter now. Let us know what you think.
