As an official media partner, WEB3//IOT was delighted that the third edition of India M2M + IoT Forum 2016 ran smoothly. The event was held on Friday, 22 April 2016 and Saturday, 23 April 2016 at C-DOT Campus, New Delhi, India, and was attended by many of India's IoT "movers and shakers". Over the two-day event, the forum presented an incisive agenda that covered topics across the entire M2M + IoT Eco-System. Attendees heard talks by representatives from key government agencies, C-Level Executives, and founders of innovative start-ups. Everyone in attendance had one combined goal; revolutionise the M2M and IoT sector in India and beyond.
India m2m + iot Forum 2016 received an overwhelming response from the entire machine-to-machine and internet of things fraternity, both from the government and industry at large. The impressive line-up of participations were from the major national and multinational companies and organisations from public and private sectors, academic institutions, research and development organisations, manufacturers and suppliers, solutions and services providers, civic decision making bodies, nodal agencies and organisations, industry alliances and trade organisations, media services companies and organisations, as well as end-users.
The forum offered ten extensive hours of networking each day with high profile delegates, including speakers from the government and industry. The forum received support from the Department of Telecommunication (DOT), Telecom Engineering Centre (TEC) and Department of Electronics And Information Technology (DeitY) as Government Partners. The entire forum also received overwhelming support from more than eighty partners nationally and globally, including the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI), OneM2M, ICT Technology Network Institute, Innovability S.r.l. and the Indian Institutes of Technology, Delhi.
India m2m + iot Forum 2016 brought together the government and industry experts who discussed and deliberated upon a range of topics within the framed theme.
The event commenced with a brief talk by the Guest of Honour for the day Shri J. S. Deepak - Secretary - Department of Telecommunications, Government of India. Shri J. S. Deepak said "The forum, India m2m + iot Forum, is indeed an ideal platform for exchange of knowledge and ideas. The forum should try to encourage ideas from various sectors where machine-to-machine (m2m) and internet of things (iot) technologies find applications."
Shri Vipin Tyagi, Executive Director - Centre for Development of Telematics (C- DOT) said "It is a good time and a good opportunity and challenging to some extent and hence joint efforts are required for m2m and iot in India."
Dr. Kumar N. Sivarajan, Chairman - TSDSI (Telecommunications Standards Development Society, India) said "This forum has helped in bringing together m2m and iot enthusiasts to discuss the challenges, requirements and to understand how partnerships can be developed, including the regulatory and standards requirements for developing the industry as a whole."
Shri R. K. Pathak, Director, TCOE India said "We are overwhelmed by the response we have received from the entire fraternity of machine-to-machine (m2m) and internet of things (iot) which further strengthens our belief in the potential that this ever growing sector holds in making India a Smarter Nation."

Telecom Centres of Excellence, set up in Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode, are an example of the Government, the Academia and the Industry working together for the sustained growth and progress of the country in the Telecom sector. The idea of Telecom Centres of Excellence was initiated with the shared realization, by the Government and the Telecom Industry, that boosting the growth of telecommunications was essential for the overall progress of the country. It was conceptualized in May 2007 and brought into existence by February 2008 with the signing of 7 MoUs between DoT, participating premier Academic Institutes and the sponsors from the Telecom Industry. The eighth TCOE with participation of Railtel came up in Jun 5th 2013. The TCOEs set up in Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode, are an excellent example of the Government, the Academia and the Industry working together for the sustained growth and progress of the country.
